Chinese trade fair kicks off in Ha Noi

The sixth Zhejiang export fair, one of the most prosperous provinces in China, kicked off in Ha Noi on August 3.

Nearly 100 businesses from the Chinese province, which represent the “Zhejiang Made” symbol, are displaying products popular in Southeast Asia, including Viet Nam, such as machinery, electronic equipment, construction material and furniture, as well as textiles and garment material and consumer products.

At the opening ceremony, To Ngoc Son, deputy director of the Asia-Pacific Market Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), said the fair would provide cooperation opportunities for Vietnamese and Zhejiang enterprises, helping them fully exploit available advantages, exchange experiences and promote import-export activities between Viet Nam and China in general and between provinces and cities of Viet Nam and Zhejiang Province in particular.

In the future, MoIT and the Ministry of Commerce of China will co-ordinate with Zhejiang Province’s authorities to expeditiously complete final procedures to put into operation the Viet Nam Trade Promotion Agency in the province’s Hangzhou City, thereby establishing a more effective periodic information provision and exchange mechanism between the MOIT’s Asia-Pacific Market Department and the Chinese province.

Taofei, head of the 2017 Zhejiang Export Fair delegation, said Zhejiang is a coastal province located in southeast China with ideal natural conditions. It has posted rapid economic growth in recent years and boasts of economic relations with over 230 countries and territories around the world.

Trade turnover between Zhejiang and Viet Nam reached US$6.7 billion in 2016, an increase of 12 per cent over 2015.

By the end of 2016, 186 Zhejiang enterprises were investing in Viet Nam with total investment of $1.68 billion. Meanwhile, Viet Nam set up 26 firms in Zhejiang with total investment of $20 million.

The event, which continues until August 5 at the Viet Xô Culture Palace, is being organised by the Viet Nam National Trade Fair and Advertising Company (Vinexad) under the theme “Zhejiang Made – All Need”.
