Top Thai Brands: bringing the best of Thailand closer to Vietnam

Top Thai Brands is welcoming visitors at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City from May 11 to 14.

The annual expo has attracted more than 150 companies showcasing a wide variety of Thai products, like food and beverages, cosmetics, health, beauty and spa products, household products, as well as automobile and motorcycle parts. There are also some pavilions promoting Thai tourism, education, and franchising.

Peraya Sophachitvatana, the representative of P. Sang Udom Trading Co., Ltd. said they are currently researching the Vietnamese market to introduce confectionery products like Hacks.

“We are optimistic on our market prospects as Vietnamese consumers are keen on Thai products,” he said.

Pitinun Samanvorawong, Minister Counselor of the Thai Trade Centre at the Consulate General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City, said that Vietnam and Thailand have deepened economic and other bilateral ties since the two countries established strategic partnership in 2013.

In 2016, the total import-export turnover between the two countries reached $12.5 billion, up 8.9 per cent against 2015. As of March 2017, the export turnover stood at $3.2 billion, an increase of 21.1 per cent year-on-year.

Thailand is currently the tenth biggest foreign investor in Vietnam, with around 453 projects worth $8.1 billion. The two countries target bilateral trade turnover to hit the $20 billion mark by 2020.

“Top Thai Brands 2017 will be the best place for Vietnamese and Thai firms seeking distributors and franchisees. The expo has organised a business-to-business programme with about 1,500 scheduled appointments to facilitate cooperation between Vietnamese and Thai companies,” she noted.
