Three start-ups win blockchain contest in VN

Three Vietnamese start-up teams of Drop Deck, Turing and BKIT have surpassed other rivals to win the Blockchain-based projects contest, local technology page ictnews.vn reported on April 14.

 

The Enigma contest, the first of its kind held in Viet Nam, aiming to promote Blockchain technology to the public through pragmatic, innovative and unprecedented use cases and applications, saw participation of 20 competitors in the preliminary round and six competitors in the final round.

The contest was also the first step in facilitating the ground-breaking Blockchain ecosystem for Viet Nam to keep up with the world’s sweeping blockchain movement.

Blockchain is a technology newly introduced in the world as well as in Viet Nam. It is a shared, immutable ledger for recording the history of transactions. It fosters a new generation of transactional applications that establish trust, accountability and transparency at lower costs and with more simple procedures. Blockchain technology is applicable in financial services, public election, data sharing systems, transactions in decentralised trading floors.

Drop Deck team won the first prize with a trip to Singapore to meet with other technology start-ups. The team developed a blockchain based web platform connecting investors and start-ups in the fastest and most optimal way.

Turing team won the second prize worth VND15 million (US$660) for their health management app.

BKIT team won the third prize, equivalent to VND10 million, for their VietnamFarm app, connecting farmers (in agro-forestry-fishery sector), experts and consumption bodies (producers, exporters, retailers). Through use of the app, farmers can sell their products, call for co-operation or help, experts can conduct research, producers, exporters, retailers can call for co-operation, signing contracts and trading goods.

The Enigma contest was organised by R&D company CARDANO Labo/Infinity Blockchain Labs, the leader in blockchain-based solutions in Viet Nam and Asia, and was strongly supported by local universities and technology companies including Microsoft, TMA Solutions.

IT and technology enthusiasts, business entrepreneurs and planners, developers, students, researchers up to four years of professional working experiences were encouraged to apply.
