Japan’s Transcosmos, Can Tho City seek e-commerce partnership

The People’s Committee of Mekong delta's Can Tho City held a working session on April 18 with a delegation from Japan’s Transcosmos group on an e-commerce cooperation and investment plan.

Komura Yohei, director general of Transcosmos-Vietnam, said the group began its Viet Nam operation in July 2014 and set up representative offices in Ha Noi and HCM City.

Setting foot in Can Tho will help the group expand its operation in Viet Nam, reflecting its commitment to long-term business in the country, he said.

Though Viet Nam posted the highest growth rate in Southeast Asia, its e-commerce sector is yet to keep up with Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia, he noted.

Transcosmos aims to launch services in the city that have been successful in Ha Noi and HCM City, including customer service, BPO and IT outsourcing services, according to the executive.

It will initially send its leading engineers to help with training and technology transfer, and if the partnership works, packaged e-commerce services and others will be launched, he told his hosts.

With more than 50 years of operation and high-quality personnel, Transcosmos is confident that it will become an important and long-term partner of Can Tho in developing and applying e-commerce services, he said.

Vice chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Truong Quang Hoai Nam welcomed the group’s interest and cooperation, pledging the provision of maximal legal and advertisement assistance.

Established in 1966, Transcosmos is one of Japan's leading e-commerce solution providers, with a presence in 34 countries.

In Viet Nam it is a significant stakeholder and a strategic partner of Lazada, HotDeal, Vinabook and Yesgo.
