Increase in industrial production in the first quarter of 2017 is lowest in five years

In the first quarter of 2017 industrial production including construction grew by 4.1 per cent, considerably lower than the rate previous years.

 

Not including construction, the growth was 3.85 per cent, lowest since 2011. The biggest decrease was recorded from the mining industry, which decreased by 11.4 per cent in the quarter.

In March industrial production including construction increased by 5.5 per cent comparing to that of the same period of last year. The mining industry decreased by 7.5 per cent while the processing industry showed 8.9 per cent increase in production, electricity production and distribution 11.3 per cent, and water supply and wastewater treatment 8.5 per cent.
