World Travel Awards finds one-of-a-kind venue in Danang

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort will host the auspicious Asia and Australasia Gala Ceremony 2016 of World Travel Awards.

The ceremony honours 2016’s exceptional tourism and hospitality services in the Asia and Australasia region. 180 guests from the business community, tourism experts, and the world press will gather in the Great Hall of the resort’s The Summit auditorium for the most anticipated event of the regional tourism and hospitality industry.

“The organisation board of the award ceremony picked InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort to host what is considered the Oscar of the tourism industry because we were convinced by the natural beauty, the luxurious facilities, and the world-class service at the resort,” said Graham Cooke, president of World Travel Awards. “We hope the resort is going to leave a good impression on participants.”

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is going to ensure the rooms, food, spa, and security are at their very best in order to bring excellent service to the guests. According to the resort management, being picked as the venue for the Asia and Australasia Gala Ceremony 2016 is another testimonial to the resort’s prestige. Moreover, the event is going to put Danang on the list of world-renowned luxury destinations, as the participation of the 180 influential characters on the global tourism scene and the world press will be a chance to promote the image of Danang to tourists all over the world.

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is located on Son Tra peninsula in the central city of Danang. It was developed by Sun Group and is managed by InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG). InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort redefines luxury by combining Vietnamese aesthetics with international standards. Set on 37 hectares of stepped gardens leading down to a private beach, each of the 200 rooms and villas guarantees a dramatic view on the crystal clear water of the East Sea.

Decorated with wooden furniture and handmade silk and craft art pieces procured from Vietnam’s many localities, every inch of this luxury resort is proof to the genius of star architect Bill Bensley. A testament to the resort’s unique design and concept, the resort has welcomed a veritable host of high-profile guests, including politicians and celebrities throughout the years.

Over the years, the resort has hosted many important events, such as the Creative Connection International Conference with the participation of over 100 investors and politicians, as well as the World Spa Awards 2015. In 2017, the resort will serve as a venue for a number of activities within the framework of Summit 2017, the 29th meeting of APEC leaders.

Prior to winning the “Best Resort Hotel in the Asia-Pacific” title awarded by Business Traveller magazine in late September, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort has made it onto CNN’s list of the 21 Most Beautiful Beachfront Hotels in the World. Its exquisite Harnn Heritage Spa is the proud holder of the 2016 World Spa Award. Its restaurant La Maison 1888 was voted by CNN as one of the ten most beautiful restaurants in the world.

Over the years, the resort has been consistently recognised with prestigious awards, including the World’s Leading Luxury Resort in 2014 and 2015 by World Travel Awards, World Luxury Spa Awards, World Luxury Hotel Awards, and Smart Travel Asia Reader’s Choice, to name just a few.

World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward, and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industry. Today, the World Travel Awards brand is globally recognised as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark for all to strive and reach. The annual programme is renowned as the most prestigious and comprehensive event in the global industry.
