Vietnam's Muong Thanh expands hotel network into Laos

The Muong Thanh Group, Vietnam's largest private hotel operator, launched its first luxury hotel in Laos on Thursday in hopes of expanding its operations into overseas markets.

The grand opening of the new Muong Thanh Luxury Hotel took place on Thursday with the participation of senior officials from the government and the operator.

Guests of honour included Vientiane Mayor Dr Sinlavong Khoutphaythoun, Minister of Industry and Commerce Ms Khemmani Pholsena, Minister of Planning and Investment Dr Souphan Keomixay, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Mr Nguyen Manh Hung, and Chairman of the Muong Thanh Group Mr Le Thanh Than.

The Muong Thanh Luxury Hotel is located in Phonsinuan village, Sisattanak district, and is one of the biggest buildings in the country.

The five-star hotel has 25 floors and 331 rooms with a maximum guest capacity of 700. It also has four restaurants and an 800-seat convention hall.

The hotel features both the modern and traditional architecture of South East Asia and is located close to administrative offices and tourist attractions in the city.

The Muong Thanh Group has set a goal to become the largest private hotel network in Vietnam and says it would really like to test its product's brand in an international market.

“The hotel in Vientiane marks the first established hotel in an overseas market after 20 years of doing business (in Vietnam) and we hope it will be a significant milestone to bring the Muong Thanh brand into other markets,” said the General Director of the Muong Thanh Hotel Group, Ms Le Thi Hoang Yen.

The Muong Thanh Luxury Hotel in Vientiane is part of a chain of 38 hotels located in northern and sou thern Vietnam.

According to the Group, Muong Thanh has sustainable developments with multi-branch operations in the fields of tourism, construction and investment, and entertainment, and has now expanded into the areas of education and health.

The Group has more than 50 hotels and hotel projects and has been responsible for creating more than 8,000 jobs, providing employees with a stable income.
