Local shares rise on higher oil prices

The recovery of oil prices after four consecutive sessions of declines helped oil and gas stocks soar this morning.

Besides oil and gas, blue chips, such as Vietcombank (VCB), Hoa Sen Group (HSG), Hoa Phat Group (HPG) and FPT Group (FPT), also increased in active trading today. The stocks of securities, real estate and construction firms were the winners in this session.

Of the securities shares, Ho Chi Minh City Securities Corporation (HCM) attracted good cash flow and gained VND1,400 per share. Other securities shares, such as Sai Gon Securities Inc (SSI) and VNDirect Securities Company (VND), also moved up.

The notable transactions agreed upon this morning involved 7.5 million shares of automobile trader Hoang Huy Investment JSC (HHS), four million shares of Kinh Bac City Group (KBC) and 7.8 million shares of Sai Gon Ha Noi Commercial Bank (SHB).

At the end of the morning session, the VNIndex rose 3.05 points, or 0.5 per cent, to close at 614.67 points on the southern bourse, while the HNX-Index gained 0.19 points, or 0.24 per cent, to end at 81.46 points on the northern bourse.
