Vietnam’s manufacturing industry has highest demand for managerial posts in Q4: report

The recruitment demand for mid-level and senior managers last quarter was seen highest in the manufacturing industry, a Vietnamese recruiting company said in a report.

In terms of recruitment, the most demanding industry in the fourth quarter of 2015 was manufacturing, accounting for 22 percent of the demand for managerial posts, followed by retail and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) with 14 percent, garment and textile, banking – finance – insurance with 10 percent, and IT with seven percent, Navigos Search said, citing the findings of its report.

The firm added that no significant changes were observed in the final three months of last year.

The most recruited positions in the period were for electrical engineers, electronics engineers, programming engineers, marketing personnel, and sales personnel.

Meanwhile, smartphone manufacturing, garment and textile, retail and FMCG were the industries with the highest recruitment demands, according to the report, which was cited in a Navigos Search press release on January 13.

The document also highlighted the industries with the highest salaries of mid-level and senior managers in 2015, which differed between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

In the capital city, the banking and finance sector was ranked first in terms of payment with the salaries of the above positions recorded as between VND100 million (US$4,461) and VND200 million ($8,922) per month, followed by manufacturing and real estate.

The southern city saw the biggest payroll in the healthcare industry, followed by FMCG, retail, and banking and finance, the firm said in the report, adding that wages of the top 10 industries in the city ranged from VND70 million ($3,122.7) to VND225 million ($10,037) per month.

The highest salary for mid-level and senior managers in 2015 increased by 11 percent compared to that of the previous year.

A hike in demand for mid-level marketing and sales managers is expected for the pharmaceutical industry in 2016, according to Navigos Search experts.

The telecommunications industry is also anticipated to have a considerably high hiring demand when 4G technology is officially launched in early 2016, the agency said.

It is likely more employees will also be needed this year in the consumer finance and IT industries, while FMCG will also see a shortage of managerial personnel, according to the report.
