PNJ's revenue reaches $342m in 2015

Revenue earned by jewelry trader Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ) reached nearly VND7.7 trillion (US$342.7 million) in 2015, six per cent higher than the company's revenue in 2014.

 

In the fourth quarter of last year alone, PNJ earned some VND2.05 trillion ($91.16 million) in revenue, six per cent higher than the same period in 2014.

PNJ's financial revenue was reported as VND 14.42 billion ($642,262) in the fourth quarter of 2015, compared to VND182.5 million ($8,128) from the same period the year before.

Although the revenue grew, PNJ's profit after tax in 2015 dropped 37 per cent to VND160.44 billion ($7.14 million). Of this amount, the company's profit after tax in the fourth quarter of last year reached VND9.85 billion ($438,655), posting a year-on-year decrease of 81 per cent.

The company's financial expenditure in the last quarter of 2015 soared to VND180.99 billion ($8.06 million), some seven times higher than the same period in 2014.

In 2015, PNJ set aside a provision of VND310.6 billion ($13.82 million) for an investment in the DongA Joint Stock Bank, while it spent only VND10.3 billion ($458.695) in 2014.

As of December 31, 2015, PNJ had total assets worth VND2.95 trillion ($131.7 million).

PNJ has been recognised as one of the Top 500 Retailers in the Asia-Pacific region and the Top 10 Leading Retailers in Viet Nam by Retail Asia Publishing and Euromonitor. It was also honoured as one of the Top 50 best listed companies in Viet Nam in 2015 by Forbes.
