Masan Group opens brewery in Hau Giang

Masan Consumer Holdings, an important unit of Masan Group Corporation (MSN), opened a Masan Brewery HG beer factory worth VND1.6 trillion (US$71 million) in Hau Giang on December 26.

The 14.6ha plant, located in the Mekong Delta province's Chau Thanh District, will produce 100 million litres of beer per year, which will increase to 150 million litres in the future.

The factory is also expected to create 1,500 jobs for local residents and pay to the state budget VND14 trillion (US$621 million) in 10 years.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said the plant would not only promote trade and consumption in Hau Giang Province, but also in all other provinces in the Mekong Delta region.

He said Masan should take care of labour rights as well as of the local people to ensure social security.

MSN on December 24 signed a partnership agreement with Thai beer producer Singha Asia Holding Pte Ltd, in a partnership worth as much as US$1.1 billion.

The new partnership calls for Singha to own a 25 per cent stake in Masan Consumer Holdings.

MSN has built leading businesses in the food and beverage sector and is the producer of some of Viet Nam's most renowned brands, such as Chin-su, Nam Ngu, Tam Thai Tu and Omachi, besides Kokomi, Vinacafe, Vinh Hao and Su Tu Trang.
