Airbus keen on production facility in Viet Nam
Airbus Group CEO Thomas Enders has sent a letter to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung offering support to Viet Nam in developing an aviation industry in the country.
In the letter, which was also forwarded to Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang and Chairman of Vietnam Airlines Pham Viet Thanh, the CEO said Airbus was willing to consider establishing a part production facility in Viet Nam with one of its big industrial partners.
Enders said the newly-established facility would be the only one in the Southeast region, specialising in manufacturing electrical safety belts for Airbus' best-selling aircraft, the A320.
The process will include management of materials, production, technical inspection and transfer for Europe. A careful training programme will be conducted in Viet Nam and Europe.
The CEO said that they were willing to hold discussions with Viet Nam's relevant agencies on evaluating the project's feasibility in finance and social economy in order to build a suitable business method.
Airbus was also willing to transfer the production of the most advanced parts made of composites for A320 NEO and A350 XWB, Enders said in the letter.
