90% enterprises opt for online tax payment

The finance ministry (MoF) has reported that 90 per cent of the country's enterprises have registered for online tax payment via their accounts at commercial banks.

The ministry said the number of enterprises making tax declarations on the Internet had reached 98 per cent of the total number of operational firms in the country.

Online tax filing services allow businesses to file tax returns online through their accounts in commercial banks. Taxpayers don't have to file handwritten tax returns.

However, according to the MoF, the online submission of tax documents and payment was still low.

Therefore, the MoF has instructed commercial banks to completely stop accepting over-the-counter tax payments and to work with tax agencies to implement online tax payments by the beginning of December.

The ministry also plans to implement online services for payment of registration fees for cars, motorcycles, personal income tax and real estate.
