VN-Index up, HNX Index down in morning trading

Shares opened higher this morning as blue chips proved their influence on the market when assisting the VN-Index to finish higher.

However, the northern bourse's HNX Index closed lower.

On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index gained slightly, increasing 0.5 per cent to close at 550.13 points, as a number of gainers balanced the losers.

Also, the VN30, which tracks the top 30 shares by market value and liquidity, closed almost unchanged at 578.97 points.

Nearly 58 million shares, worth VND892 billion (US$41.3 million), were traded by the end of the morning, an increase of 7 per cent in value compared with yesterday morning.

FLC Group (FLC) was still the most active stock, trading 5.8 million of its shares but dropping nearly 1 per cent, to stand at VND10,300 per share.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index ended almost unchanged at 79.65 points, with a modest trading value of VND332 billion ($15.3 million).

However, the number of losers doubled that of gainers by 92 to 51, while the 215 others remained flat.

More than 4.7 million shares being traded helped the KLF Joint Venture Global Investment Co (KLF) extend its top position as the most active code, losing 1.39 per cent to end at VND7,100 per share.

The afternoon session will begin at 1pm.
