Vietnamese educators celebrate win at Microsoft E² Educator Exchange

Microsoft Corporation- the worldwide leader in software, services and solutions- recently announced the winners of the Global Educator Challenge awards, including two educators from Vietnam: Nguyen Thi Lieu and Ngo Thanh Nam, who were recently celebrated at the 2015 Microsoft E² Educator Exchange event.

Global Educator Challenge awards given to inspiring educators from approximately 100 countries

Recognised alongside over 60 educators from more than 40 countries, the Vietnam team demonstrated exceptional innovation in their field and during competitive sessions at the event – working with their peers to design a project around the use of Microsoft technologies within the specific theme of Bravery, Courage, and Leadership.

“Nguyen Thi Lieu and Ngo Thanh Nam have proven themselves among the most innovative in Vietnam – showing how they can adapt technologies to help solve the challenges.

“Now we are excited to see how they take what they’ve learnt at the event, share it among their peers and use it to transform teaching and improve learning outcome,” said Vu Minh Tri, Microsoft Vietnam’s general director.

For the first time, Microsoft student ambassadors were also invited to the E2 event, and set their own challenges to showcase their knowledge and what they have learned throughout their participation in the programme.

Working in teams, these required them to use their problem solving skills and Microsoft product expertise. The winning team included students from Chile, India, United Kingdom and the United States.

The three-day E² Educator Exchange recognised and celebrated the achievements of educators who are preparing students with the skills to succeed the 21st century. The event brought approximately 300 of the world's most innovative educators for an unparalleled opportunity to collaborate, create and share their experiences on how to integrate technology and pedagogy in ways that achieve 21st century learning outcomes.

“The E2 Global Educator Exchange event is part of the Microsoft in Education initiative that offers a range of professional development programmes to bridge the gap between technology skills and innovative teaching. Attending E2 is a big honour and recognition for Vietnamese educators to understanding how to use technology in the classroom for better learning outcomes,” said Nguyen Thi Lieu, principal of Duc Tri Secondary School.

“At E² we were able to interact with Microsoft products to see the potential for learning, work alongside student ambassadors, and increase our knowledge of how technology can increase productivity in the classroom,” said Ngo Thanh Nam, first runner-up of Overall Challenge award.

“E² activities reach beyond traditional software training to provide a scaffold that supports educators and school leaders of all skill levels on their learning journey. This project, one essential part belong to Microsoft Partner in Learning programme, also proves Microsoft’s commitment to empower Vietnam’s digital generation to transform the future and further develop its economy,” said Vu Minh Tri, Microsoft Vietnam’s general director.

According to Tri, through these programmes Microsoft has trained more than 10 million educators and reached more than 200 million students since 2003 worldwide, including 65,000 educators and about two million students in Vietnam.
