Central province opens cinnamon oil plant

The central province has put into operation a cinnamon essential oil plant for export in Tra Bong district on a total investment of VND69 billion (US$3.3 million).

The plant will produce 80 tonnes of cinnamon oil per year for domestic markets as well as exports.

The plant will process 10,000 tonnes of cinnamon leaves and branches to make cinnamon oil, material for bio-fertilizers, and for incense production.

The province, the second largest region cultivating cinnamon, has 7,000 hectares of cinnamon plantation while Tra Bong district is famous for cinnamon trade in Viet Nam.

Cinnamon is an important plant for ethnic Cor group.
