Ha Noi's CPI falls in November

The Ha Noi consumer price index (CPI) fell 0.3 per cent in November due to lower petroleum prices, according to the Municipal Statistics Office.

There was a sudden change in September attributed to increased education costs at the beginning of the new academic year, followed by a slight increase of 0.04 per cent in October.

Among 11 groups of products and services in the CPI basket, a decline was recorded in three groups: restaurants and soft drinks (down 0.11 per cent), housing and building materials, electricity, water and fuel (down 0.84 per cent) and transport services (down 2.93 per cent).

One group remained unchanged and the seven remaining groups rose from 0.02 per cent to 0.42 per cent.

CPI of housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials dropped by 0.84 per cent due to falling kerosene prices. From the beginning of November, the gas price also dropped VND40,000 per 12kg canister. Steel prices also saw a slight decline.

Restaurants and catering services experienced a decline of 0.11 per cent due to the falling price of foodstuffs such as rice, poultry meat and vegetables.
