Vietcombank tops Forbes list of VN firms

Forbes listed the Bank for Foreign Trade of Viet Nam (Vietcombank) first on its yearly list of the top 50 companies in Viet Nam.

Forbes praised the bank for its number of business clients, its payment and trade services, and its domestic retail market strategies. Vietcombank has produced more than VND31 trillion (US$1.47 billion) in revenue this year and VND67.2 trillion ($3.2 billion) in market capitalisation.

The magazine Asian Banker also named Vietcombank Viet Nam's best retail bank. It is the only Vietnamese bank included in the magazine's list of the world's top 500 banks from 2013 to 2014.

Forbes Viet Nam's list honoured companies operating in 12 sectors that stand out for their excellent business performances.

Along with Vietcombank, the HCM City Securities Corporation and the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank were also included in the financial sector.
