Russian, Vietnamese firms enhance co-operation

Dozen of Russian businesses involved in electricity, construction, underground work, chemistry and petrochemistry met Vietnamese partners in Ha Noi yesterday to seek co-operation opportunities.

Speaking at the event, the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Secretary General Pham Thi Thu Hang said assistance from the two governments and efforts by business communities would be critical for raising bilateral trade value to US$7 billion in 2015 and $10 billion in 2020.

Two-way trade hit nearly $4 billion in 2013 and around $1.52 billion in the first seven months of this year, accounting for just 0.5 per cent of Russias total import-export value, according to VCCI.
