Blue chip gains lift VN-Index

Shares rose for the third day on the two bourses, lifted by the gains made by blue chips.

In HCM City, the VN-Index increased 0.29 per cent to close this morning at 592.93 points.

The losers outnumbered the advancers by 106 to 82, while 117 stocks were traded flat. But the recovery made by some major large-cap shares helped the market.

Vinamilk (VNM), Vietcombank (VCB) and Masan Group (MSN) rose slightly compared with yesterday's close.

Ocean Group (OGC) recouped another 0.99 per cent to end at VND10,200 per share.

Liquidity was modest, with 54 million shares worth VND935 billion (US$44.3 million) being traded.

Property developer An Duong Thao Dien Co (HAR) surprised the market to become the most active code this morning, with 5.6 million of its shares being traded at VND11,300 each, climbing 5.61 per cent.

In Ha Noi, the HNX-Index added 0.25 per cent to finish at 86.81 points, with a modest market value of VND359 billion ($17 million).

KLF Joint Venture Global Co (KLF) is leading the market volume here with 3.2 million shares, but its price slid 0.88 per cent to end at VND11,300 per share.

The trading will resume at 1pm.
