Stocks climb on strong cash flows

Stocks opened higher this morning as investors continued to pour money into the market after a long holiday.

 

On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index added 3.51 points, or 0.83 per cent, to close at 641.96 points, while the HNX-Index on the Ha Noi bourse increased 1.11 per cent to close at 88 points.

Blue chips also gained with the VN30, which tracks the top 30 shares by market value and liquidity on the southern bourse, rising 0.77 per cent to end at 682.02 points.

Liquidity was high with a total of nearly 160 million shares, worth a combined VND2.37 trillion (US$112.3 million), being traded on the two exchanges.

Realty stocks were leading the HCM City market as the three most active codes were from this group, including FLC Group (FLC) with 15.2 million of its shares changing hands. Tan Tao Investment Industry Corporation (ITA) and Hoang Quan Consulting Trading Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) followed, with 4 to 7 million each of their shares being traded.

On the Ha Noi exchange, Sai Gon-Ha Noi Bank (SHB) was the most active with the trading of 7.2 million shares, followed by PetroVietnam Construction Corporation (PVX) with 5.8 million shares.
