SCB gets 3rd straight internet banking award

Standard Chartered Bank of Viet Nam has been adjudged the Best Consumer Internet Bank in Viet Nam for the third consecutive year by world-leading Global Finance Magazine.

"The accolade given to us for three years in a row recognises our bank for offering the best online and mobile banking and for clearly being a leader on this front in Viet Nam," said Nirukt Sapru, SCB Viet Nam Ltd Chief Executive Officer.

At the forefront of digital banking, SCB Viet Nam has realised the trend early and invested in online capability.

"Viet Nam is a fast-growing country with a young population. It is only natural that they have been faster in embracing online and mobile conveniences," Sapru said. "We anticipate what customers want and provide the services, and that is what we have done in cyberspace. Customer satisfaction is reflected by the increasing volume of our online transactions, where customers perform more than 90 per cent of non-cash transactions and prefer not to come to branches unless absolutely necessary."

Viet Nam is one of 19 global markets where SCB maintains preeminent industry rankings. SCB Viet Nam has achieved the three-year record for online banking based on the strength of its strategy for attracting and serving online customers, success in getting clients to use web offerings, growth of online customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from internet initiatives, and website design and functionality.

Standard Chartered has consistently been upgrading its digital platform for online banking, mobile banking, SMS and ATM. Customers can now go online to make local and overseas transfers, create term deposits, pay bills at the ATM or sign up for auto bill pay for their telephone, mobile and internet bills. They can also go online to go shopping, as well as apply for a personal loan and get approval in 24 hours.

In the retail segment, customers activating online banking services have increased by approximately 80 per cent, and 90 per cent of all non-cash transactions for SCB are happening online.

In the SME segment, more than 80 per cent of total customer transactions are processed through SCB's "Straight to Bank" online platform.

Figures on customer use of online banking services in Viet Nam are among the highest in the SCB global network. To further encourage customers to go online instead of conducting paper-based transactions, the bank waives all charges and offers the best rates for online applications and transactions .

SCB Viet Nam now has three branches and employs more than 850 staff. The bank provides a full suite of commercial and retail banking products and services for corporates, financial institutions, small and medium enterprises and individuals.
