Buoyant blue chips help market to extend rally

The rally made by the blue chips continued to help HCM City's market this morning, with the VN-Index gaining another 0.54 per cent to stand at 592.51 points.

VinGroup (VIC), one of the top 30 shares by market value and liquidity, hit the ceiling price of VND71,000, or US$3.36, following reports that the group would spend nearly VND2 trillion or $94.8 million to pay cash dividend at the rate of 21.5 per cent.

Other major shares such as Hoang Anh Gia Lai Co (HAG), Saigon Securities Inc (SSI), Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), Sacombank (STB) and Phu My Fertiliser (DPM) also posted modest gains.

The VN30 was up 1.03 per cent to finish at 637.49 points.

The trading volume was good with nearly 70 million shares being exchanged, valued at over VND1.2 trillion or $56.9 million.

FLC Group (FLC) was again the most active code this morning, with more than 9 million shares being traded at VND12,600 per share, up 3.3 per cent over yesterday's close.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index inched up 0.18 per cent to end at 79.59 points. The gainers outnumbered the losers marginally by 74 to 69, while 215 stocks remained unchanged.

More than 31 million shares, worth VND374 billion or $17.7 million, were traded by the end of the morning.

Sacomreal (SCR) was the most active code here, with the trading of nearly 3 million shares, an increase of 1.1 per cent to close at VND9,300 per share.

The trading will resume at 1pm.
