Footwear plant start construction in VSIP Quang Ngai

A ground-breaking ceremony for the first stage of footwear export manufacture plant was held by King Riches Footwear Viet Nam company at the Viet Nam-Singapore Integrated Township and Industrial Park (VSIP) in the central province of Quang Ngai on May 28.

The plant, which covers on an area of 25.39ha with an investment of between US$30 million and $50 million in two stages, will schedule to compete the first stage and put into operation by May 2015.

King Riches, a subsidiary of Kingmaker Footwear Group, opened the first plant at VSIP Binh Duong in 1999.

Chairman of King Riches Viet Nam, Mickey Chen said he trusted on Vietnamese Government and people as well as management of VSIP.

VSIP Quang Ngai, the fifth of its kind in Viet Nam, which started construction last year, has drawn eight projects from seven investors with total investment capital of nearly US$200 million.

Sembcorp Development, a partner of VSIP Group joint-venture with Becamex IDC, said it plans to build a 1,200-megawatt coal-fired plant in the province under a 25-year build-operate-transfer (BOT) arrangement.
