Viet Nam wins rice contract

Viet Nam has won a contract to sell 800,000 tonnes of rice to the Philippines, the Viet Nam Food Association said on Tuesday.

The rice will be shipped to the Philippines from May to August.

The association predicts that with this contract, the price of the grain in the Mekong Delta, Viet Nam's largest granary, will increase significantly.

By April 13, Vietnamese businesses had won contracts for 2.7 million tonnes of rice, of which 1.4 million tonnes had been exported.
