Viet Nam largest importer of soybean from Argentina

Viet Nam imported 554,000 tonnes of soybean residue, valued at US$289 million, from Argentina in the first quarter of this year.

The website valorsoja.com reported that Viet Nam is currently Argentina's biggest importer of the by-product, making up 12.5 per cent of the total export volume, followed by Indonesia (8.8 per cent), Malaysia (4 per cent) and Thailand (3.3 per cent).

Argentina ranks first in the world in exporting soybean residue as feed for animals. Last year, it exported more than 15 million tonnes worldwide, including 1.747 million tonnes to Viet Nam.

Soybean and its by-products were also Argentina's key exports to Viet Nam in 2013.
