The major trade promotion event with a theme "Viet Nam – Cooperation and Development", is expected to promote exports, imports and investment in Viet Nam.

Companies from 23 countries and territories have set up some 750 booths for the exhibition occupied by 600 domestic and international exhibitors. Many domestic companies from 20 cities and provinces are also taking part in the event.

In addition to showcasing machines, electronic products and food and beverages, this year's fair includes firms promoting investment in the industrial sector. Information about industrial zones and preferential policies for investors are available for visitors, said Nguyen Khac Luan, general directror of the show's organiser Vinexad.

According to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, the annual Viet Nam Expo has gradually become an important event in connecting Vietnamese and international organisations, opening up opportunities to intensify exports, trade exchanges, investment and technology transfers.

Hai said that his ministry has proposed building a bigger national exhibition centre and upgrading infrastructure in order to better meet Vietnamese and foreign company demands. The fair will run until April 19.
