Overseas investment reaches $15.5b

Vietnamese businesses have invested US$15.5 billion in 742 projects abroad, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The mining industry topped the list with 99 projects totalling $4.6 billion, accounting for 13.3 per cent of all projects and 46 per cent of total investments.

Agro-forestry and seafood processing ranked second, with 80 projects worth $1.9 billion, equivalent to 10.8 per cent of all projects and 12.6 per cent of total capital, while power projects also attracted $1.8 billion, accounting for 12.1 per cent.

Vietnamese businesses have expanded their investment to 59 countries and territories throughout the world.
