Isuzu Lao sets ambitious sales target

Isuzu Lao Service Company aims to sell 1,000 Isuzu V-Cross pickup trucks by the end of this year, capturing a share of the growing market for stylish yet capable vehicles in Laos.

Isuzu Lao Services Sole Company in Nalao village, Sikhottabong district Director, Mr Vilasaykham Philaphandeth, told Vientiane Times that with the all new Isuzu released this year, customers have shown even greater interest, thanks to its reputation for reliability, durability and fuel economy.

Having already sold more than 500 vehicles, the company is optimistic of reaching the sales target of 1,000 before the end of this year. Mr Vilasaykham said their main customers are the general public, and they are now targeting the expansion of their company sales.

The V-Cross offers a very economical option for company fleets. When the previous pick-up model was tested back in 2011, it was shown to be capable of travelling from Vientiane to Pakxe district, Champassak province, on a single tank of fuel.

Mr Vilasaykham said in an effort to further boost sales, the company will reward customers who opt to drive away with one of the pick-up trucks the chance to win additional prizes thanking them for their custom, with more than 350 million kip up for grabs.

The promotion started in June, and the company will give away one Yamaha Fino motorbike each month until November.

Then in December the company will hold the major prize draw, with one lucky winner to walk away with a new Isuzu V-Cross, while there are another two Yamaha Finos, three Samsung Galaxy mobiles, four LCD TVs and five washing machines also on offer.

“In July, we sold only 26 pick-ups, but in August sales increased to 45 units, making us confident we will meet the end-of-year target,” Mr Vilasaykham said.

Mr Somchan Lathsamy, who owns a noodle shop in Dongpalan-Tha village, Sisattanak district, was announced as the winner of the second lucky prize draw at the company headquarters on September 6, when he took home a brand new Yamaha Fino.

Everyone who purchases one of the new Isuzus will receive two coupons in the lucky prize draw and, who knows, when it comes time for the major prize draw, they may be the proud owner of not one Isuzu V-Cross but two.
