Landmark Mekong Riverside Hotel: a new highlight in Vientiane

The Landmark Mekong Riverside Hotel (LMRH) in Vientiane is located at Don Chan Beach alongside the Mekong River and south of the International Residence Centre.

LMRH represents an investment of more than US$50 million by the Krittaphong Group Co. Ltd. and was built by China Yunnan Construction Engineering Group Co. Ltd. (CYCEGC). The total site is about 42,000m2 with the building covering 34,394.5m2. The hotel has been built to Five-Star International Hotel Standards.

It's a high standard luxurious and magnificent garden and business conference hotel that will become a new highlight in the city of Vientiane.

The project got underway on February 20, 2012, with the intention of accommodating guests for the 9th Asia-Europe Meeting Summit in early November 2012. The brand new Mekong riverside landscape development of LMRH and the International Residence Centre shows to the whole world a rapidly-developing, international and modern Laos.

At the preliminary stage of this project, the Lao government nominated CYCEGC as the project constructor to support Laos in hosting the Asia-Europe Meeting Summit.

As one of CYCEGC's major overseas projects for 2012, in view of the actual circumstances of the short construction period, high stan dards and heavy task, CYCEGC always adhered to the spirit of unity and mutual aid, technical cooperation, and unselfish contribution, observed contracts and kept promises, and overcame numerous difficulties such as construction in the rainy season, high temperatures and a hot summer, to smoothly drive the project forward.

During the construction period, President Choummaly Sayasone, Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Thongloun Sisoulith visited the construction site many times to familiarise themselves with the current situation and guide the execution of this project, showing great care about the progress of the project.

The first stage of the whole LMRH project, which took eight months to co mplete, was put into service for the 9th Asia-Europe Meeting Summit this week as planned.

A lot of Vientiane citizens said “It's just like magic, in just a few months, this grand magnificent international hotel has sprung up. New colours are added to Vientiane. What a miracle!”

The completion of the LMRH will promote the social and economic development of Laos, and create a new starting point for Laos to conduct high-end official and business receptions and the Mekong Riverside Landscape Development.

The 9th Asia-Europe Meeting Summit showed the whole world the true picture of Laos and the determination and strength of Laos in realising the Millennium Development Goals by 2015. With the project's eye-catching features, it will surely be a new highlight in the development of Vientiane.
