BDO expands Cambodia operations

The former country partner and staff of Grant Thornton Law and Associates in Cambodia have joined the accountancy and advisory firm BDO Malaysia effective July 1, according to a statement.

As a result, BDO Cambodia’s team will now comprise over 30 staff and partners, a company statement said.

“With our expanded presence and capabilities, we are in a better position to serve our clients wherever they are, in line with BDO’s client proximity proposition,” said Gan Ah Tee, managing partner of BDO Malaysia and regional senior partner for Asia Pacific Region.

Grant Thornton had dissolved its partnership with Arthur Law and Associates as of June 30, and set up in the Kingdom via its member firm in Vietnam, a previous statement said.

BDO is one of three accounting firms licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Cambodia to provide accounting and auditor services to the country’s securities sector, according to the statement.

BDO Cambodia is also one of the National Bank of Cambodia’s panel of approved independent auditors for banks and financials institutions, the company said.

“Cambodia is poised to be the next growth story in Indochina, with a population of 14.7 million and a median age of approximately 23 years,” said Arthur Law, former country partner of GTLA Cambodia, in the statement.

“The launching of the Cambodia Stock Exchange should encourage a surge in foreign investment in an exciting business landscape,” he said.
